We are a team of professionals with a long experience in the beef business. We have built a wide network of producers that started in Uruguay, and now gives us a strong presence in all the MERCOSUR region. Our History
The Uruguayan agricultural sector has witnessed more than half a century of our family history. Generation after generation we have shared a vision of the beef business. A vision that started to take shape in the early sixties when Enrique Decker became a founding member of the beef slaughter and packing plant Frigorífico San Jacinto Nirea SA. Thirty years later in 1990, Opticarnes was founded as a family business led for over 10 years by Enrique’s son, Michel. Very soon a new generation will take over to carry forward our commitment to service excellence.

We were born in Uruguay, a country with 176,000 Km2 of rich, natural grasslands, with a temperate climate and no mountains, an ideal setting to raise cattle. Nowadays, MERCOSUR is our home. We are confident that we count on the best cattle breeders in the world. They lead the world rankings in quality and quantity of beef produced. They devote time and efforts to researching new production techniques, innovating in the field and maintaining the strictest health and safety measures.
